[applause] >> thank you very much. please. thank you. thank you for your kind words and thank you to all of you. i am thrilled to be here. here to celebrate those that dedicated their lives to the human rights movement and we would be remiss if we did not toak as a little while ago honor the passing of one of the movement's greatest heroes. ansident mandela was activist, a prisoner of conscience and a political leader. he was, above all, a teacher. he taught us that the power of forgiveness is greater than the power and differences of race and nationality. his presence on this earth will be sorely missed, but his lessons will endure in the hearts of millions. this has become a very special event. part of what tom talked about, and it is with sadness that he has passed from this world. we have come together because of this extraordinary trailblazer, from san mateo to washington, t
